Keep it all Current!! Many times I am asked to look at PCs that are slow or virus infected. In most cases, it is due to the lack of regular upkeep and definition files that are out of date. Programs such as Norton, McAfee and all Anti-virus programs check for virus’ in two ways. One is by heuristics. This means that it is looking at a particular file structure to determine if it is a virus. The other way is for it to have a definition file to check against. With old or outdated definition files, the program normally does not know that new threats are present.
